Hi Panel! Our trip is 11/15, and my 5 year old is already asking about seeing pictures of WDW. I was wondering if anyone had any picture or age appropriate book recommendations, so she can sit and look at it by herself. She isn't reading yet. Thanks!

    Hi January,

I think it's great that your daughter is getting excited about the trip already!  The anticipation is almost as much fun in my house as the vacation (I said almost!).  I have Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids by Kids.  It is filled with lots of excellent pictures, illustrations of the characters and reviews written by children who have been on rides and/or seen attractions.  You would probably have to read these with your daughter, but what a great way to plan together.

Another excellent resource is the www.disneyworld.com website itself.  You can use the links to each park to highlight the different rides and attractions she might like.  There are tons of little video clips that will help her get a tiny taste of what she will experience.

Some additional things that I do with my children to get them excited include:
    - Creating a family "Countdown to Disney" calendar where we can check off the days until we arrive.
    - Use a sticker chart that rewards good behavior/chore completion to help my kids "earn" Disney Dollars for souvenirs in the parks.
    - Work together on creating a packing list (if your child can't write, they can draw pictures of the things they'll need to take with them.)
    - Make a "Top 5" list of attractions each member of the family wants to see in the parks (the website is a great place to come up with ideas.)

I hope some of my ideas help your daughter get even more excited!  Have fun planning!
