Hello mom's panel. Is the top area of the train station a good spot for viewing the parades? We were there last Oct and the streets were very busy, so we thought we'd look at other options for our trip this Oct. Thanks, you guys are the best!

I have enjoyed two parades from the train station, and as interesting as it was to have a different view of the parade, I don't think it is the best place in the Magic Kingdom from which to see the parades.

First, the floats are considerably lower than you realize from view and the characters rarely looked up to the train's platform. The floats at Disney were made to be seen from street-level, so watching them from the top of the train station doesn't allow you to see enjoy the details intended nor feel like you are greeted by the characters. Second, you can't always count on the train station being open for the general public to use for viewing. Our family has trekked all the way down Main Street only to find a cast member waiting at the bottom of the stairs to tell us that it was closed for a private party. Third, when you do find the train station's viewing platform open, it is typically extremely crowded. To get a view near the railing and a seat, you'll find folks arrive hours--yes, hours--ahead of parade time.

If you want to decrease the crowds and score a good viewing spot, I'd recommend trying to get a FastPass+ for the parade. The VIP viewing is right in front of the castle and limits the number of spectators, allowing for some much-coveted elbow room without having to sit in the same spot for an hour wait. If you aren't able to get a FP+ for VIP Parade viewing, I recommend trying out the inner traffic circle where the American Flag flies on Main Street. There are no shops behind you like Main Street through which other guests will constantly be walking. The constant flow of guests behind me as I wait on a parade can make the experience much less enjoyable. There are many places to watch the parade, but to beat the ever-moving crowd, the traffic circle would be a good spot to land--and better, in my opinion, than even the train station.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
