Hi Moms Panel. Can you tell me what the attraction age ranges mean? Specifically, what's the age for pre-schoolers and kids? I'll be traveling to WDW in 3 weeks with my 5-year-old niece; I'm trying to plan ahead, but I'm not sure which rides she can go on.

    Hi Stephannie:

I'm a parent of two boys, ages 5 and 3 who have slightly different tastes and tolerances when it comes to rides. In general, the safety restrictions for riding attractions are based on height, not age. Click on this link for a list of height requirements for rides and attractions with height restrictions at Walt Disney World. You have to know your niece to help determine what rides are appropriate where she meets the height requirement or there is no height requirement. For example, even though the Haunted Mansion features ghosts having a lot of fun, it's also a spooky ride and not all five-year olds will appreciate it.

Take a look at the Magical Beginnings Guide for tips and suggestions for children five and younger at Disney World, as well as this Disney World tip sheet.

    Enjoy your vacation.
