    Hi Panel - My questions concerns making ADR when on the dining plan. Why is a credit card used to secure the reservation and charged when you have the dining plan. I am looking at about 6 table service lunch/dinners and do not want my card charged .

    Hello, Lisa! Thanks so much for your question. No worries! Nothing is charged on your card when you secure the reservation. The reason that a card is required upon securing the reservation, is per the reservation cancellation policy. If you do not show up to your dining reservation, or if you cancel your dining reservation after 11:59 p.m. EST, your card will be charged 10$ per person in the dining party. Your card will not be charged if you show up to your reservation or cancel the day before the reservation. The card is essentially used as a placeholder for you. If you have the Disney Dining Plan you still need the card as a placeholder for the reservation, and it will still follow the cancellation policy if you do not show up. It won't charge your card for your meal if you do show up. Typically your server will ask if you will be on the Disney Dining Plan before you even order. At the end of your meal you will then pay by Magic Band or whichever payment method you choose. Your card will never be charged for a meal unless you want it to be charged.
