Hi Mom's Panel. Planning our first trip to WDW for April 2009. Can't decide on a resort! Me, hubbie, my mom and DS8 will share room. We'd like to minimize travel times to parks, but can't afford the monorail resorts. Can you help? Thanks!

    Hi Kitty,

I'm going to assume that it may be beneficial to have a little extra room for some privacy with your travel party, especially for your mom.  I have 2 immediate thoughts that would provide you with some extra space within a friendly budget.  Ft. Wilderness has cabins that are within the moderate resort price range and sleep up to 6.  They have a bedroom with a double-bed and a bunk bed, bathroom, full kitchen, and a living area with a Murphy bed.  The boat ride to the Magic Kingdom is about 15 minutes while the bus ride to the other parks is around 30 minutes.  It is also quite spread out so many guests rent golf carts to travel within the resort, so it may not be quite what you are looking for.

Another idea is the family suites at the All-Star Music resort, which is a value resort.  They have a separate bedroom, kitchenette, living area with a sleeper sofa and chair, and 2 bathrooms.  The bus travel time to the Magic Kingdom is about 20 minutes while the other parks' travel time is about 10 minutes.
