Hi Panel - We plan on getting to HS early in hopes of signing up DS8 for Jedi Training. Should we bring our own lightsaber (he has many) or are they provided for the trainees? Many thanks!

    Hi Kimberly,

I'm so excited that you're planning for your son to do the Jedi Training Academy (JTA).  He's going to love it!!!

They provide all of the lightsabers so no need to bring your own - one less thing to keep up with in the park.  They also provide the robes for participants.  You do have to give back the lightsabers and robes - you do not get to keep them.  Each participant does received a certificate of participation which makes a nice souvenEAR.

During our recent visit, they were holding registration at Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey. There was a sign in front of the Sounds Dangerous theater directing people to the signup area.  The location may vary but it will be held in an area near the JTA stage - just ask any Cast Member in that area.

On the day I visited they started sign-ups during the morning Extra Magic Hours (EMH). Just another perk for staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. If you are staying at a Disney Resort & it works into your schedule, you could visit DHS on a morning they are offering EMHs. If you aren't staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel and JTA is a must do, I'd plan to visit DHS on a day when they are not offering morning EMHs.

If JTA is a "must do" for you, I'd recommend heading towards JTA first. Make sure you have your young Jedi with you. They ask all Padawans a couple of questions to make sure they can follow some basic directions before signing up.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
