Hi Panel Moms. I am a Aunt of 3 beautiful girls and there mother wants to take them in 2018 for there very first Disney trip. For smaller kids and a child with Autism what time of the year for less crowds? And not extreme Heat.

    Hi Heather,
Thanks for joining us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! It's true that Central Florida can be incredibly hot during the summer and sometimes into the fall as well. I think the coolest, least crowded time of year at the Walt Disney World Resort is in February. However, be advised to check the runDisney race calendar and schedule your trip around any race events that may happen that month. I also like to visit in early May before it really heats up for the summer and before kids from all over the country start their summer vacations.

As a frequent year-round visitor (I'm a Central Florida resident and Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passholder), what I love to do on my extended stays is to split the day up. We visit a theme park in the morning, go back to our resort midday and swim in the pool or take a rest in our room, then return in the evening when it's a little cooler for some additional fun. It gives us time to relax, refresh and regroup during the middle of a hot day.

Regarding your niece with autism, you might find that the Disability Access Service Card may assist you by enabling you to use the FastPass+ queue for attractions. When used in conjunction with the FastPass+ service, you should be able to access quite a few attractions each day if you so desire, without the long wait times of the Stand By queues.

Heather, good luck in your trip planning! Please come back and visit us if you have any additional questions!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.
