Hello Panel, My ?, me, mom, 11yr(Boy), 5yr(Girl) and 1yr(boy) 1 vist WDW the week of March 20 staying 5 days was wondering should we rent a car or use Disney transportation. We will have a stroller and ABR and ADR at the Princess Breakfast,Trex, and more

Hi LaShandra!  This is a common question from many Disney guests.  There are certainly pros and cons for renting a car during your stay.

It is certainly not necessary to rent a car for  your vacation.  The Disney transportation is great and you can use buses or boats or monorails to reach all your destinations.  The buses run every 15-20 minutes so unless you are very unlucky and constantly miss the bus of your choice you will not waste a lot of time in lines.

One of the benefits for taking the Disney transportation is that it will drop you off closer to all parks then if you had driven.  This is especially true for the Magic Kingdom.

The biggest benefit for renting a car is when you have a lot of resort dining planned.  There is no direct transportation between resorts. If you need to get to a dining spot at a resort you will need to first head to a park or Downtown Disney and make a transfer to another bus.  This can add a lot of time on to your traveling and is very hard if you have many early breakfast reservations to get to.  I suggest a taxi ride for those when you don't have a car.

The buses are comfortable and car seats are not allowed.  Strollers must be folded up completely so be careful about storing packages underneath.  I enjoy not having the stress of a car during my trips but I also take advantage and use a taxi for certain destinations when I want to get there quickly.

Tough decision and a personal one to what you would be most comfortable doing.  I hate driving in places I don't know well enough so I leave the rental car at the airport and just head to Disney using something where someone else is doing the driving!
