Hello Panel! Love your advice! DH, DD6 and Myself are meeting SIL, BIL, nephew8 and niece4 staying at AOA 2/13/14-2/19. Knowing that's Presidents Day weekend, I was hoping to get some advice on planning our park hopping. Thank you for your time!

    Hi, Jamie!

    Great question!

When planning a trip to Walt Disney World during a holiday weekend, it's smart to consider the impact closed schools may have on crowd levels. I always consult the great (unofficial) website touringplans.com, to see what they predict the crowd levels to be in each park, then plan accordingly.

During the dates of your stay, the parks with the lowest crowd levels are the following: (bolded parks are my picks)

    2/13/14: Animal Kingdom (4); Epcot (5)

    2/14/14: AK (6); Magic Kingdom (7); EP (7)

    2/15/14: AK (5); EP (6); Disney's Hollywood Studios (6)

    2/16/14: MK (8); EP (8); AK (8)

    2/17/14: AK (7); MK (8)

2/18/14: AK (6); HS (6) (closes at 7, so head to Downtown Disney or MK that night)

    2/19/14: EP (5); HS (6); AK (6)

I took into account crowd levels as well as park hours so that you should be in the best places at the right times, too.

Take advantage of the a.m. Extra Magic Hours whenever possible and head to the back of the parks; by the time you are at the front gate again, much of the crowd will have moved to the back.

We try not to park hop often, preferring to spend that extra commute time in a park. The exception is when we have a dining reservation at a WDW Resort hotel. Even then, we try to visit the park that's closest to that resort that day.

Send more questions as you think of them, Jamie! We love to help!
