Hi panel! Do you have to make FP+ reservations in advance? Or can you wait and make them at the kiosk the day of like you used to? My family is rejecting this change and I would like to give them a definitive answer. Thank you!

    Hi Deirdre,

You can make FastPass+ selections in the parks on the day of your visit, either at in-park kiosks or on your smartphone or tablet; however, by choosing not to make advance selections you might be limiting your access to FastPasses for some of the most popular attractions.

Guests staying at Disney resort hotels may make FP+ selections up to 60 days in advance of their trip and off-site guests may make selections up to 30 days in advance. By the time you get to 2-3 weeks in advance, you'll find that nearly all the FP+ availability for some rides of the most popular rides is gone. This means that there will be little no FP+ availability for day-of selection. I'm particularly thinking of the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction; if you don't make a FP+ selection in advance, it's unlikely that you'll be able to get a FP+ for the Mine Train.

On the plus side, the new FP+ system does offer a great deal more flexibility than the old system. If you make FP+ selections ahead of time, you can change them on the fly in the parks, something that was not possible in the past. It's super easy to change your FastPass selection times or attractions as circumstances change.

For example, there have been times when I've had a FP+ for a particular ride but have been able to get onto a ride early in the day without using the FP+. I then used the My Disney Experience app on my smartphone to change the FP+ to a different attraction. You could also make changes at any of the in-park FP+ kiosks.

When I've made changes on my phone, I've been able to switch my FastPass+ attractions in less than a minute.

My suggestion is that you go ahead and make some advance selections. You can then alter these during your vacation as suits your needs.
