Hello Myriam,
I am sure the countdown to your upcoming trip is getting very exciting for all of you. Your trip will be here before you can say, "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" So, I hope you are prepared to smile a lot and laugh beyond compare.
Visiting a Disney water park on a hot August day will be the perfect way to cool off and take in some of the other activities beyond the four theme parks. Personally, I enjoy
Disney's Blizzard Beach better, but that is simply my opinion. I love the theming of Blizzard Beach. It's ironic theme presents a unique backdrop for some summer splash fun in the Florida heat. As for transportation, you will most likely take the bus for Disney's Animal Kingdom, as they often share transportation and it is a stop on the way to the theme park. However, you will want to check the signage at your resort bus stop, as that will give you the most up-to-date information. Lastly, if you get the chance, you MUST try the
mini donuts at the kiosk not far from Lottawatta Lodge. They are another reason I choose this water park over the other.
In regards to your day with no plans, I would suggest exploring
Disney Springs. This updated and expanded shopping and dining area is accessible by boat from Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and might be the perfect spot to purchase your souvenirs and eat some interesting food such as famous treats (savory and sweet) from other Disney theme parks from around the world at the newly opened
Fantasy Fare Food Truck.
Have a magical trip,
~Allison L
