Hi Panel. Coming to DW 9/23-10/1. Got great deal on room only at PC, 40% off. Now the free DDP is offered. Is it worth it to pay full price hotel room w/tickets to get free DDP? Concerned we won't use table service each day. Thanks for your help!

    Hi Debby,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  I totally understand the desire to crunch some numbers to get the best overall value for your dollar on your Walt Disney World vacation!

The dining plan is something that I have avoided until now, simply because we are not big eaters...and my children have been quite picky.  Now that they are older, I'm beginning to see that it is a pretty good deal!

Currently the dining plan is $39.99/adult and $10.99/child, this includes taxes but does not include gratuity (except at select locations).  This pricing is per day, for each night of your stay.  So each adult (age 10+) would be approximately $320.00 for your eight night stay, and each child (ages 3-9) would be $87.

So I suggest you calculate just how much it would cost you to purchase the dining plan (all persons on your reservation must be on the plan), and then see how much it would cost you to give up your great discount and pay rack rate for your room.  If your 40 percent discount is more than the total dining plan cost, I'd keep your current deal!

Now if this is the case, you could still keep the deal and add the dining plan to your existing reservation.  You simply need to determine if each adult might eat more  $320 worth of food otherwise (and children at least $87).  If you are going to do any character dining or dinner shows, the dining plan is a great deal!

I hope this helps, have fun crunching the numbers!
