HI Moms panel, We are checking in March 3-7 2013. Our first day at the parks will be the 4th. I know it is recommended to do MK first, but HS has extended hours that day. Is it worth doing the extended hours and do HS first?

    Hi, Shena!

For me, Extra Magic Hours, especially those in the evening, can be really useful when trying to get onto a favorite attraction for a second time, or if wanting to squeeze in a later dinner or shopping than regular park hours could accommodate. The date you're thinking of going to Disney's Hollywood Studios, you'd get two additional hours in the park, from 7-9 p.m., meaning that only Resort Guests can continue to ride some of the most popular attractions during that time. That's a nice perk.

On the other hand, Magic Kingdom will be open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. that day, actually giving you more hours in a park than if you'd gone to HS. If you're heading into MK for more than one day, this might not be important to you. However, if you're only going to be in MK for one day...you might need to make that park day on 11/4 or 11/5, since these are the only two days of your stay on which MK is open until 10. (It's open until 8 on 9/6 and 9 on 9/7.)

Of course, there are those who refuse to enter a park on a day on which it has EMH; I, however, feel that utilizing EMH can really be to our advantage, as long as we know what those hours entail.

Send more questions as you think of them; I'd love to help you plan!
