Hey Kristine! Welcome to planDisney. I'm so excited to hear you will be in the parks this week!
I think you will be happy to hear that I have indeed seen caricature artists in the parks recently. While the times that they are available are limited and can change, I do know I have seen caricature artists at work in New Orleans Square. If this is something at the top of your park to-do list, I suggest going there early in your day to see what time the artists will be there and then get there when they are accepting Guests to ensure you get a spot.
While you are there be sure to stop by the
Mint Julep Bar and give the limited time Butter Cookie Heart-Shaped Beignets a try. I hear they are delicious!
Fun fact: You may hear a tapping noise while you are sitting to get your caricature portrait drawn. This is coming from
Disneyland Railroad - New Orleans Square Station just behind you. This clickety-clack is the tapping of the telegraph machine and it is tapping out a real message -- the opening lines of Walt Disney's opening day speech. How neat is that? It doesn't matter how many times I visit the parks, I'm always amazed at the little details you can find.
Kristine, I want to thank you again for stopping by planDisney with your question. May your packing and planning go quickly so you can arrive at The Happiest Place on Earth so very soon!
