Does the paint the night parade and 70th anniversary celebrations happen during Christmas time?

Hi there, Brandi! Welcome to planDisney! Is it too early to say, “Seasons Greetings”?! You asked a wonderful question—planning a visit during the holiday season is already so magical, and you've picked a year that's extra special.

I have some terrific news for you! The spectacular Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration will absolutely be happening during the holiday season. The beautiful decorations and celebratory feeling will be all around you, making your holiday visit sparkle even more brightly! Now, when it comes to specific entertainment like the beloved Paint the Night parade, the final holiday schedule is still tucked away in Santa's workshop.

However, we just got some very hopeful news from the Disney Parks Blog that gives us a reason to keep our fingers crossed! Disney announced that Paint the Night, along with World of Color Happiness! and Tapestry of Happiness will continue to run during Halloween Time this fall. While this isn't a guarantee for the holidays, it's a great sign that the Disneyland Resort wants guests to experience as much of the 70th Celebration entertainment as possible, even during seasonal events!

No matter what the final schedule holds, you can be sure that a sleigh-full of festive entertainment will be waiting for you. The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort will bring incredible offerings like A Christmas Fantasy Parade, the “Believe… in Holiday Magic” Fireworks Spectacular (with its magical snowfall!), and World of Color - Season of Light.

My best advice is to keep a close eye on the Disney Parks Blog for the latest announcements about the holiday entertainment lineup. Once that news is released, you can start making some fun plans! For example, you can check to see if the Paint the Night parade will be running and, if so, whether its popular dining package will also be offered during the holidays. My fellow planDisney panelist, Shonette, just told me about her awesome experience with it and wholeheartedly recommends it as a fantastic way to enjoy a meal and get a voucher for a reserved viewing spot.

While the big shows and spectaculars are amazing, Brandi, I hope you also get to enjoy the smaller moments of holiday magic! I just love to see "it's a small world" Holiday all lit up with thousands of twinkling lights. Another favorite is visiting Cars Land to see how the residents of Radiator Springs have decorated for the holidays—they use things like white-wall tires and shiny hubcaps to create their own unique winter wonderland! The festive character outfits you'll see are another can't-miss detail.

I hope this gives you a great head start on dreaming about your merry and magical visit, Brandi! Please feel free to check back in with us here at planDisney if any other questions pop up.

    Have a magical day!
