Hi, I paid extra for some magic bands for a trip we had booked for September 2020 but unfortunately due to the pandemic the trip was cancelled. What happened to the bands I paid extra for. Should I have got a refund.

    Welcome to planDisney, Dawn!

Thank you for sending an excellent question our way.

As a fellow international Guest from Brazil, I have also had to cancel vacation plans that were impacted by the current situation, and found myself in your shoes regarding MagicBand orders.

I had a Disney Resort hotel reservation booked originally for April 2020 that was rescheduled to August 2020. Although the Walt Disney World Resort started its phased reopening in July, travel restrictions remained in place for Brazil, so I had to unfortunately cancel my reservation. I had pre-ordered three MagicBands for my family online, but since they are not shipped internationally and cannot be held for international Guests for another visit, I contacted the Walt Disney World Resort to inquire about cancelling the order and receiving a refund.

You will need your MagicBand order confirmation number and your Disney Resort hotel reservation number. The MagicBand order number can be found in the confirmation e-mail sent to you after purchase. Once you have these numbers, please call +1 (407) 939-4357 and explain your cancellation situation and that you would like to request a refund for your MagicBands. I was transferred to a Cast Member at shopDisney Guest Services who handles MagicBand orders and she was able to verify that my Disney Resort reservation had been cancelled, and once I explained that I had to do so because of travel restrictions she was able to locate my order with the confirmation number and request a refund. The amount was refunded to the credit card used for the purchase. You can also try to call shopDisney Guest Services directly at +1 (800) 328-0327 or +1 (407) 541-5586. Please note that you will still be able to see the MagicBands under My MagicBands and Cards on My Disney Experience. I recommend signing in to your Disney account and deactivating them.

I hope this helps you, Dawn. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and keep wishing on the evening star for international travel from our countries to resume so we can finally return to the Walt Disney World Resort!

    Best magical wishes,
    Thiana
