Hi there, Melvin!
There aren't too many things that I like more than a Disney Cruise Line vacation. But one thing I like more is a Disney Cruise Line vacation at a lower rate. That would mean that we could enjoy our next Disney Vacation that much sooner!
Before we book a Disney cruise for our family, we like to check the Special Offers page for the latest deals. After booking, we usually step back and anxiously await the upcoming cruise. That is because it is generally rare for the price of a given stateroom category for a specific cruise to go lower. If anything, the opposite usually appears to be the case. So once we have settled on a given stateroom or stateroom category, we tend to stick with it. But that doesn't mean that there could never be exceptions to that.
Having reserved your cruise and paid the initial deposit, you are assured that the price of your cruise is locked in place and you will not be required to pay more than the price agreed upon at that time, even if the price should go up for other staterooms in the same category. If a special offer for the same or different cruise should become available, you could do as my planDisney pal Tracie did and call Disney Cruise Line to cancel your existing cruise reservation and book the new reservation at the newly-offered rate. In some cases, you may make modifications to your existing reservation directly from the My Reservations page. However, such modifications may not always include changes to a special offer stateroom category. Depending on the stateroom category originally booked or the timing of modification relative to your paid-in-full date, cancellation fees, additional deposits, and/or fare differences may apply.
There may be other aspects to consider as you book your cruise. When I booked my family's upcoming Disney cruise aboard the Disney Wonder, I originally intended to book staterooms from the latest Special Offers. But as I imagined the possibilities of our cruise together as a family, I soon realized that our experience would be greatly enhanced if we could choose our stateroom locations, which is generally not an option with the IGT, OGT, and VGT special offer stateroom categories. In our case, we decided we wanted connecting rooms that would allow us to effectively form a larger multi-room suite of sorts to more comfortably accommodate our large family.
I hope you have a marvelous cruise, Melvin. We'd be happy to continue to support you in your preparations. If you have any more questions, I hope you'll visit us again here at planDisney.
Fair winds and following seas, Melvin!
