Do package deals always provide the best price? I am looking to book in March and when I do the resort separate and add in the ticket prices it is about $200 less than the package.

    Hi Sherrie!

I'm so glad you are taking the time to consider the different ways you can organize the components of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. While packages often represent the most cost-effective way to pay for your vacation, Guests can occasionally get a better deal by paying separately for tickets, hotel rooms and dining. I always encourage friends and family members to price out their vacations both with and without a package.

A good place to start is the current Special Offers page on the Walt Disney World Resort website. If there's a promotion that covers the dates of your upcoming vacation, price out a package using that promotion. Then, compare the cost of the same vacation by purchasing theme park tickets and your hotel room separately. Further, it is worthwhile to consider whether your dining habits make a Disney Dining Plan a good deal. You can estimate whether paying out-of-pocket for your meals makes sense by looking at prices on the detailed menus available on the Walt Disney World website.

I find the planning of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation nearly as much fun as the actual vacation. And, having spent adequate time comparing promotional offers against à la carte vacation shopping, I book my family's adventure knowing I have gotten the best possible deal. I encourage you to do the same. Please post additional questions if there's anything my friends and I here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel can do to assist you.

Sending best wishes and pixie dust,
    Jill
