Hello! Is there a pacing requirement for the 2013 Mickey and Minnie Royal Family 5K? I have read in blog recaps from previous years that there isn't one, but the website for 2013 says it's a 16 min/mile. Please let me know. Thanks!

    Hi Spencer!

Yes, the Family 5K's at Disney events always require participants to maintain a 16 minute/mile pace.  This is simply so they will know when the race will end and they will be able to get the park ready for regular Disney guests.

The 16 minute/mile pace will begin being timed as soon as the last person crosses the starting line.  There will be "sweepers" that ride along behind the runners at that pace.  Since the last division to start is the stroller division, anyone beginning in the corrals before that will actually have extra time for the race.

RunDisney suggests that you train at a 15 minute/mile pace to allow for some time during the race to capture your magical moments on camera!  Also, this will give you confidence to know that you can do it!

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions!
