Does the owner of DVC need to attend Moonlight Magic? This year my mother in law (the owner of the DVC) will not be joining us on our vacation. But she wants to reserve the DVC for Hollywood Studios for May 24th. She has added me to the reservation.

    Hiya, Anne!

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.  It sounds like you're just a few months away from all the magic of a Walt Disney World Resort visit –– I bet the anticipation is really starting to set in!  Like you, I was so excited to hear that Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic events would be returning in 2022 and I'm happy to share a few details about how these upcoming event work for Members and their Guests.

While there are many perks that non-Member Guests can enjoy without a Member when staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort, Moonlight Magic events require Members to present their DVC Digital Membership Card along with their photo ID to check-in for the event.  Unfortunately, that means that non-Member Guests can't attend Moonlight Magic without being accompanied by the Member.  I know that might not be what you were hoping to hear, but just know that if plans change and your Mother-in-Law decides to attend with you, she'll be able to register herself and up to four Guests (or the total number of Guests on your Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation) when registration opens for the events at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

But even if you can't attend a Moonlight Magic event, you'll still be able to spend a little extra time in the parks during your visit.  As a Disney Vacation Club Resort Guest, you can take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry, which allows you to enter any Walt Disney World theme park 30 minutes early each day (with valid admission and a Disney Park Pass reservation).  You'll also be able to enjoy Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, which gives you two additional hours to spend in the select parks after they close to the general public for the evening.  However, unlike the morning hours benefit, extended evening hours are only available at certain theme parks on select nights.  Be sure to check Park Hours as your vacation approaches for all the latest details about dates and times.

I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney, Anne.  Even without attending a Moonlight Magic event, I have a feeling there are lots of pixie-dusted adventures in your future!
