Hi there, Kelly!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, fellow Texan! I am so very glad you sailed by with your question about your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation! With so much awaiting you onboard your Disney Cruise Line ship, I am sure you are eagerly counting down the days until you arrive and set sail.
Lost luggage is the WORST!! While you always want to hope everything goes to plan, the last thing you want to happen is to find out – after you’ve arrived at the port terminal – that a piece of your luggage has gone missing! While many things can be purchased in one of the onboard shops (like when I forgot to pack a bathing suit for a beach vacation!), you definitely don’t want to be doing that because of a lost suitcase! So, yes, you can certainly retrieve your own luggage from the luggage carousel and bring it with you for your ground transfers to the port. If you are going to do this, DO NOT put the
luggage tags on your suitcases until after you’ve retrieved them at the airport. I usually suggest waiting until you are at the port to ensure nothing gets accidentally ripped off or damaged! Then, when you arrive at the cruise terminal, you check your luggage with a porter and then they will magically appear outside your stateroom later that day! If you are departing out of
Port Canaveral, you will want to check in on Level 1, side B of the Orlando International Airport for your ground transfers purchased through Disney Cruise Line. Those transfers begin at 9:30AM and run through 1:30PM.
As you continue planning and preparing for your adventure at sea, please come back with any other questions you may have!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
