Hi there Matthew,
Welcome back to planDisney! It's so nice to assist a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member with a question about making reservations. My family has been a part of the Disney Vacation Club family for twelve years now and we love the magic it brings! Like you, we have more than one DVC contract and we own at different
DVC resorts. Let's take a look at the rules for making reservations.
When investing in a DVC Membership, Members purchase Vacation Points at one Home Resort. The
Home Resort Priority Period is the period when only Disney Vacation Club Members who have an ownership interest at that specific resort can make a reservation at that same resort. This priority is a great perk for securing stays at popular resorts. For reservations at other resorts outside your Home Resort, the booking window opens at 7 months in advance.
In response to your questions, yes, you can book a reservation at
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa 11 months from your check-in date using your Grand Floridian Vacation Points. However, you wouldn’t be able to simply transfer or convert that reservation to your Bay Lake Tower contract. If you want to stay at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa using Vacation Points from your Bay Lake Tower contract, you’ll need to wait until the 7-month mark to make a separate reservation. Unfortunately, a direct conversion isn't possible, and as confirmed by
Member Services, there’s a risk of losing your Grand Floridian reservation once the 7-month window opens to all Members.
I know this isn't the information you were hoping to hear, Matthew but I do hope you are successful in getting the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa reservation for the dates you are hoping for. Wishing you all the best as you plan your next magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Stay magical,
Candace
