Can I make my 14 yo his own Disney account then link it to mine so he has access to our tickets? Or do I manage his tickets and Magic band through my app? First time going to I am really confused with how it all works.

Hey Howdy Hey Amanda and welcome to planDisney!

How exciting it is to know that you have your first trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth booked and ready to go! I bet you all are getting super excited about your trip and hopefully, you are enjoying the planning process of your Magical vacation. There is so much to look forward to with your upcoming vacation but before we get too far, let's talk about your son's My Disney Experience account.

When it comes to managing and setting up profiles for minors, or adults for that matter, the options you listed are the ones to consider. As long as your son has an email address he manages, you are more than welcome to have him create his own My Disney Experience account and then link it to yours so you all can share plans. If you want to make sure everything is in one place, you can also create a profile for him under your My Disney Experience account and manage his profile. There are reasons to consider both so let's go into this a little further.

If you are considering purchasing MagicBand+ for your upcoming trip, you may want to consider having your son set up his own My Disney Experience account. With MagicBand+, you will become part of the story and have the ability to interact with enchanted areas throughout the parks. One of the exciting ways to do this is over at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Here, you will be part of the story scouring Batuu as a bounty hunter looking for your next treasure. This will give you plenty of time and reasons to look through the entire land for your next treasure and even some rewards along the way! This may be more enjoyed by your son with his account so he can work on his own to discover these hidden treasures. You will still be able to link his tickets to his account and everyone will still be linked as long as you go through the steps to do so in each separate account. As long as your whole party is linked, he can also be the one in charge of making your next Lightning Lane selections or navigating you around the parks as technology seems to be second nature with teens!

If you feel as though your son will go with the flow of things, you might want to keep his profile managed by yourself. You still can link a MagicBand+ to his profile, as well as his tickets and be part of the story, but this will be more of a joint effort with your whole party. You will be the one making the reservations and Lightning Lane selections for everyone as everything will be managed by one account.

With our family of 5, my daughter is 13 and I still manage her account. She does get super into the parks and the experience as a whole but is intimidated at this point about navigating us and making Lightning Lanes when we have the opportunity. I know this will eventually change but at this point, we are all more comfortable with my wife and I handling the plans.

The best and most confusing part about a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is your options. It is totally up to you how you want to handle the situation with your son's My Disney Experience account and hopefully, I have some reasons to consider for each to help you make your decision. If you have any further questions, just know that you have a friend in us here at planDisney to help you with them. Feel free to stop back and let us know if we can help!
