If you have your own car, is it always better (faster, more convenient) to use it instead of Disney transportation? Staying at CBR in a pirate-themed room and will have my parents' car with us (4A, 2K).

Your family is in for a real treat, Janice; those pirate rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort are so much fun!  As for the car, there are differing views.  I happen to be in the "pro car" camp.  In my experience, driving yourself from place to place is significantly more convenient and efficient than relying on Disney transportation.  I must admit, though, that I am not well known for having patience.  When I am ready to head back to the room after a long day in the parks the last thing I want to do is wait on a bus.  For that reason, we almost always rent a car.  There have been trips during which rental rates seem particularly high and we opt to skip it.  Confession: I always regret it.

Since you will have use of a vehicle, you could certainly try both ways during your trip and see which you prefer.  I suspect you'll appreciate the car.  Either way, have a magical trip!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
