Can you use your own camera to take your own pictures at a character experience? Is there a specific type of camera you can't use or bring into the parks(removable lens)? Can you explain photo pass and any advantages of getting it?

    Hi Cherry-Ann!

You are more than welcome to bring your own camera anywhere in the Disney parks, especially for character meet and greets.  PhotoPass is there as a service to you, but you do not have to use it.  I do suggest having PhotoPass photographers take your pictures in addition to taking your own because sometimes special pixie dust is added to your photos when you view them online.  There is no obligation to purchase your photos, so you can decide when you get home if it is something you want to take advantage of.  There is a special promotion right now for a discount on a PhotoCD if you pre-purchase it before your vacation.  Click HERE to view the details of the offer.

The reason I like the PhotoPass program is that I don’t have to worry about getting a fantastic photo of my whole family.  I used to spend so much time with my eyes behind the lens, that I missed out on a lot.  I still take pictures with my own camera, but I also let the PhotoPass photographers capture special moments as well.

    Have a magical day!
