I am an overplanner & still confused about transportation. We are staying at the Contemporary. How do we get to AK and HS? Also, does the monorail stop at the gates of MK and Epcot? Can we get transportation between AK and Boardwalk. Love the pan

    Hi Terry,

I'm so glad to hear that you like the panel.  The Contemporary is one of my favorite resorts and transportation is very easy.  Not only does the monorail stop right at the front of the Magic Kingdom, but there is also a walkway that takes you to the park as well.  We found that the walk took us about 10 minutes from resort to front gate.

As for Epcot, you will have to transfer monorails at the Transportation and Ticket Center.  The second monorail will take to the front gate of Epcot.

To get to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, or any of the water parks, you will need to take a bus.  The buses run about every 10 minutes.  We often rent a car when we stay at the moderate resorts, but never when we stay at the Contemporary.

Depending on how patient or inpatient you are when it comes to public transportation, know that you can also always take a cab.  You usually won't have to.  For example, at Hollywood Studios when you leave you will see a line for the Contemporary bus.  If the line looks so long that you fear you won't make the first bus and you know that you will be annoyed waiting 15+ minutes, you may consider paying $15+ for a cab.  Paying for a cab once or twice during your trip won't break the bank and can prevent some aggravation.

I hope that I was able to provide some extra insight.
