What is there to do outside of Disneyland park without buying a ticket. I’m going to be in CA for a business trip and do not have time for the park but would have time for lunch and shopping.

Hi there, Jay, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so glad you’re planning on carving out some time for Disney magic during your October business trip!

There are plenty of fun experiences awaiting you just outside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, in the Downtown Disney District, and the three hotels of the Disneyland Resort. In Downtown Disney District, there are several Disney-specific stores I recommend checking out, including the recently re-imagined World of Disney store. Walking through this humongous Disney shop is a magical experience for Guests of all ages! You’ll find everything from Mickey Ears to mugs to trading pins here! The Disney Dress Shop and Disney Home are my other favorite must-do stores for Disney fans. There are even two Pressed Coin Machines in the Downtown Disney District, including one at The Disney Dress Shop, and one at World of Disney!

As for dining, there are some delicious options to choose from, including the brand-new Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, Ballast Point Brewing Co., and Salt & Straw. I can’t get enough of these tasty new additions to Downtown Disney! Naples Ristorante e Bar is my family’s personal favorite – the pizza and pasta dishes are delicious!

Once of my favorite ways to experience Disney magic without going inside the parks is to visit Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. The tropical cocktails are a great way to welcome you to paradise!

Also, if your evenings are open during your business trip, you may want to consider purchasing a ticket to a Special Event happening during the months of September and October – it’s called Oogie Boogie Bash -- A Disney Halloween Party, and it’s being held inside Disney California Adventure Park. The event is held on select dates from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and it’s guaranteed to be a spook-tacular time! From trick-or-treating, to a Descendants-inspired dance party, to a frightfully-fun parade, there’s a little something for everyone.

I hope you’re able to sprinkle some pixie dust into your upcoming business trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
