Is there outlets for me to plug in my computer and my phone chargers on the magic? Is there free WiFii?

    Hi Shannon!

Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for bringing such a thoughtful question as you get ready to sail away on your Disney Cruise Line vacation very soon. I recently enjoyed a 5-night cruise on the Disney Magic, so I’m happy to share my experience and a few facts about what’s available. We travel with many devices these days, and they all need to power up overnight; you’ll be glad to know there are plenty of outlets available in your stateroom.

In a Disney Magic stateroom, you’ll find outlets near the desk and bedside tables with tabletop space at each to rest your devices. These outlets are all 110V and many of them have a USB outlet incorporated as well. The only outlet in the bathroom is for electric shavers. As technology rapidly changes, you may have devices with a different connector; I purchased a small hub to charge my items with a USB-Type C connection. Please note that extension cords, power strips and surge protectors are considered prohibited items. My family of three had phones, smart watches, a GoPro camera, a computer, a small gaming device, and cordless headphones but we were able to charge these items throughout the cruise.

The complimentary "DCL-Guest" Wi-Fi is for use with the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and allows complimentary access to Disney websites for browsing while your device is in airplane mode. If you’d like to purchase a connectivity package, you may do so through your app once onboard. This is called Connect @ Sea and offers several levels of Internet access for your trip. These are now time-based packages, so you can pay by the day and then upgrade for the full trip as needed (only paying the difference in price at that time). Pricing is subject to change but will be available in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you switch your app to “onboard mode” either at the port terminal or on the ship. The different levels of connectivity include:

    • Stay Connected - Access to select social media sites, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Basic Surf - includes the “Stay Connected” package offerings, plus access to the web, email, and voice calling.
    • Premium Surf – includes the “Basic Surf” package offerings, plus video on YouTube, Snapchat, and TikTok, as well as video calling and music streaming (i.e. Pandora and Spotify). Video streaming will not be available.

If you have some work to do on your trip, I recommend Cove Café as a quiet, comfortable place with many tables and chairs plus additional outlets. They offer coffee, cocktails, and complimentary snacks from morning through the late evening. I also spent some time on my computer at Signals on a beautiful evening when I craved the night sea air while working.

I hope this helps you know what you expect for the many ways to recharge and connect at sea on your upcoming vacation, Shannon. Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you are preparing for your special cruise.

Wishing you rest and relaxation onboard so that YOU can recharge, too.
