We are in Orlando on 27 June to 30 June. What are your recommendations for theme parks for a family with a 12 year old boy

Hello there, DomVin, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you have a magic-filled summer ahead. I can see it now: Endless DOLE Whip treats, action-packed entertainment, and thrilling attraction experiences. As a mom of two young boys, I'm just your gal to give you some suggestions about what your older kiddo could enjoy while visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth.

First things first, a lot of what your son will love is based on what he's interested in. If he's a huge Star Wars or Toy Story series fan, Disney's Hollywood Studios is a must! From exploring the planet of Batuu, with its highly immersive attractions and theming, to visiting Andy's backyard, your pre-teen won't get enough of those areas. Getting to build a lightsaber at Savi's Workshop is not an everyday occurrence. (By the way, you'll want to make a reservation for that experience.) Disney's Hollywood Studios is also the home of two of the most thrilling attractions at Walt Disney World Resort: The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock 'N' Roller Coaster.

If he likes wild animals ad one-of-a-kind theatrical shows, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park should go on your list. Spotting the different species on Kilimanjaro Safaris is always an adventure (and is especially cool earlier in the day when the animals are more active). And Expedition Everest, which is located there, is my favorite outdoor rollercoaster in all of Walt Disney World Resort. If he loves to draw, he may like the Animation Experience at Conservation Station, where you all will learn how to draw a Disney character from an experienced artist.

Two of the newest attractions at the Resort can be found at EPCOT (Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind) and Magic Kingdom Park (TRON Lightcycle / Run), so those are not to be overlooked. Also, if he visited when he was a younger child, going to these two theme parks may spark nostalgia within him.

AN EXTRA GEM: Check out one of the latest  planDisney Podcast episodes, which is all abut the best experiences across property for pre-teens and teenagers. My pals Jonathan and Heather share their own experiences they've had with your kiddos throughout the years, so the episode is jam-packed with information.

DomVin, if you have any additional Disney vacation planning questions, feel free to revisit us here at planDisney. We would love to share even more tips and tricks with you.

    Magic always,
    LeAndra
