Hi Kaley,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s nice to hear from your again. I’m sending lots of pixie dusted wishes your way, because having to cancel a Walt Disney World vacation would not be magical. Here’s hoping everything goes according to plan and you’re hanging out with Mickey before you know it!
I reached out to a Cast Member, who recommended that you contact the Walt Disney World Resort Reservations Cast Members at (407) 934-7639. They’ll be able to access your current reservation, see all the details, and provide you with answers to your refund question. There are so many different types of reservations, and each comes with its own terms and conditions, so speaking to someone with access to your specific details is your best bet.
My other suggestion would be to contact your credit card company to find out how they would handle this situation. If the refund can only be applied to the original card, you’d then have an overage on your account. Your credit card company should be able to provide guidance regarding how this is handled.
Kaley, my military family often has to make changes to our plans, and we always
modify our Disney resort reservation rather than outright canceling. When you reschedule, your existing deposit is applied to the new date; depending on the type of reservation you’ve made, you may owe a balance in this case, and change fees may apply. (For example, if you have a room-only reservation and the new reservation’s nightly room rate is higher than the original, you’ll owe the difference.) I actually did this just today due to a scheduling conflict that popped up!
Good luck, and I’m sending Dole Whip wishes and monorail dreams!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
