My original plan was to go to Disneyland in California for my birthday, is there a possibility that it will be open by then ?? Or should I change plans??

Hey howdy hey, Jackie! You’ve got a friend in me at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and I’d love to help you with your question!

I see your arrival date as July 26, 2020, so I’m assuming your birthday is right around that date. First, I want to wish you a happy early birthday! There’s no place I’d rather celebrate than at the Happiest Place on Earth. This year, the Disneyland Resort was closed for my birthday, and it was the first celebration I missed at the parks in many years. I’m wishing upon a star that you’ll get to celebrate your birthday at our happy place though, Jackie! Unfortunately, at this time, we don’t have a reopening date for Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park in California. I recommend keeping an eye on this page and on the Disney Parks Blog for the latest announcements and updates.

In the meantime, I'm happy to report that the Disneyland Resort is accepting reservations for bookings at the three Disneyland Resort Hotels for travel dates July 15, 2020 and later. So, if you plan on staying overnight for your birthday celebration, you could go ahead and book your hotel reservation for your preferred date now, understanding that the reservation may need to be changed if the Resort hasn’t opened by that date. Also, upon reopening, the Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, and restaurants may be subject to capacity limits. Unfortunately we don’t have specific information about these limits just yet, so once again I recommend checking the “Update on Disneyland Resort Operations” page and the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest Disney Parks news.

I do, however, have some fun ideas to bring a dose of Disney to your birthday celebration. First, I recommend treating yourself to some fun merchandise inspired by the Happiest Place on Earth! I’m loving this Disneyland Tie-Dye Spirit Jersey! Or, for a gift that sparkles, check out this adorable and oh-so-delicate Minnie Mouse Flower Icon Necklace by Rebecca Hook! I definitely need to add this one to my list! And last but not least, have you ordered some Disney Cloth Face Masks yet? I ordered a few sets for my family recently to make sure we’re ready to hit the parks in style as soon as they reopen!

Don’t forget to whip up a batch of Mickey Mouse-shaped Beignets for the ultimate birthday dessert, Jackie! Wishing you an unforgettable birthday, no matter where you celebrate!
