    I have original magic bands from 2013- they still say “active” in my account. Would they work for our trip next year?

    Welcome to planDisney! I am so excited to hear that you are planning a return visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth next year. Using MagicBands during your stay will offer the same great convenient features you previously experienced like seamless theme park and resort hotel room entry, the ability to charge purchases to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room, and you can even link your Disney PhotoPass pictures with the tap of a wrist. Guests can use MagicBands from a previous visit for upcoming trips. It should be noted that the battery life of a MagicBand is typically two years, though some can last longer. Because of the age of the bands, they may not function as expected during your upcoming visit. You are certainly welcome to bring them along and test their ability! 

    Should you decide it may be time for an upgrade you can purchase a new MagicBand or the latest version, MagicBand+ for your visit to Walt Disney World Resort. The MagicBand+ option offers all the convenience of a MagicBand with a little extra enchanting fun. You can interact with the Fab 50 Character Collection, watch your band light up with nighttime spectaculars, and even go on a virtual bounty hunt in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can preorder their bands at a special price ahead of their arrival through their My Disney Experience account on the Walt Disney World website. You can also purchase these bands on shopDisney before your trip. These magical vacation accessories can even be bought throughout Walt Disney World Resort after you arrive, and linked to your account in a few easy steps. 

    You can also choose to use Disney MagicMobile Service on your smartphone to access your theme park tickets, charge purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room, and more during your stay. This service is a complimentary feature of the My Disney Experience app, and you can create your digital pass in moments.
