Greetings Roberta and welcome to planDisney!
I’m an old school MagicBand guy too! I have a holiday wreath made up of old MagicBands and I know that most of those old friends would still work at the parks if I put them back into service!
Roberta, I would suggest that you log into your
My Disney Experience account to make sure that the older
MagicBand is properly linked and operating. Hover over the My Disney Experience tab and select MagicBands & Cards. You will scroll down to see “Manage Disney Bands or Cards”. You will see all your old MagicBand friends listed here and whether they are active or not. If they say active you should be good to go at touchpoints around the park, access Lightning Lane entrances, unlock Disney Resort hotel rooms and charge purchases.
If you would like to upgrade to a
MagicBand+, they do have enhanced technology and interact with some entertainment and experiences in the parks.
As a back-up, you may also want to set up
Disney MagicMobile Service on your smartphone. You can create a pass to store in a digital wallet which is a good back-up to your MagicBand. You can also switch between your MagicBand and your MagicMobile pass if you need that flexibility during your trip!
Roberta, I hope you have the time to visit the
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival during your trip in April! I’m an oldies music fan and I always try to attend one of the
Garden Rocks Concert Series events at the America Gardens Theatre. I see that The Commodores are on stage during the week that you are in town! I’d be working on the “Nightshift” and knocking down a “Brick House” to see them belting out their hits!
Roberta, have a magical adventure and don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
Kurt
