Hi Jayne,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us another great question, this time about your Disney Cruise Line voyage this August!
I’m happy to say that your husband should be allowed to bring his CPAP machine with you on your upcoming cruise. He’s not the first Guest to bring one of these machines aboard, or other equipment associated with managing a
medical condition, and he likely won’t be the only Guest using one during your voyage!
“Sleep machines” don't fall into the category of
"Prohibited" items, but are considered "Restricted" electrical appliances. This means that your CPAP machine that will be inspected by the Chief Electrician when you arrive at port for your cruise and, if approved, will be returned for use aboard the ship. From what I understand, provided the machine’s plug and wiring are in good repair (no exposed wires), your CPAP machine should get cleared to be brought onboard. Because of this inspection process, I HIGHLY recommend that you bring your CPAP device in your carry-on bag.
If you’d like distilled water for your machine, I recommend that you
contact Disney Cruise Line by telephone to confirm your request. You can always use the
Special Services form, but they may not be able to guarantee your request because you’re within 60 days of your sailing.
As always, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
