MagicBand+ pairing with Smart Phone; Minnie Mouse band

I ordered a magicband+ for my trip in July but have since gotten a new phone. I have another trip coming up but my band will not connect to my new phone since it was already connected to one. I know the bands are nontransferable, but it’s still my own band

    Hi Summer,

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! Summer, you are correct that the MagicBand+ is nontransferable, but you should be able to pair your MagicBand+ to a new phone since it is still your My Disney Experience account.

There a few troubleshooting steps to try when setting up your MagicBand+. First, make sure that your MagicBand+ is fully charged, and the software is up to date. You can check for MagicBand+ updates in your My Disney Experience mobile app by clicking on the three horizontal bars in the bottom right of the screen and going to the “MagicBands and More” tile then clicking your name. Select the MagicBand+ you are trying to pair and scroll down to find “MagicBand+ Updates.” You should also check that your My Disney Experience mobile app is up to date in your phone settings.

If your My Disney Experience mobile app doesn’t generate the option to pair after completing these steps, you may need to factory reset your MagicBand+. This will not remove the MagicBand+ from your account, but it will reset the Bluetooth connection that paired the MagicBand+ to your previous phone. To factory reset, press the button on the back of your band once, then quickly press again and hold for 15 seconds until your MagicBand+ lights up with rainbow colors and buzzes three times. Your band will restart and the lights will turn off then flash green once the factory reset is complete. After the factory reset, you can go back to your MagicBands and More section in your My Disney Experience mobile app and pair the MagicBand+ to your phone again

If none of these steps work, I suggest you call the number listed under “My Disney Experience, MagicBand and MagicBand+” for assistance from a Cast Member.

I hope this answer helps lead you in the right direction, Summer! The MagicBand+ is such a fun addition to my Walt Disney World Resort vacations. It seems like my MagicBand+ is always surprising me with lights and buzzes in new places in the theme parks! Please come back and see us at planDisney if you have any more questions in the future!
