Welcome aboard, Tom!
Oh boy, it sounds like you have a fabulous
Disney Cruise Line vacation lined up and are into planning the final details for this special trip. I can understand wanting to know the logistics of how things work onboard, and I’m happy to share my experience with you.
The Cast and Crew work so hard to ensure you have a seamless trip and sometimes their work is behind the scenes to create some magic for us as Guests. Depending on what type of item you ordered, it may appear in different ways and hopefully always at the perfect time.
If you purchase any items through
Onboard Gifts and Amenities prior to your sailing, you will often find those items awaiting you inside your stateroom when it is ready on embarkation day or delivered exactly as requested without needing to be present. I recently ordered bottled water and beer and found it sitting in an ice bucket for us when we first entered our room. If you purchased credit for your onboard account or the spa you may find an envelope delivered to your room with the special message. If you intend to surprise a loved one with in-room décor, trust that this will magically appear for a special surprise at the right time! In these cases, you don’t need to be present to receive these pre-purchased Onboard Gifts or Amenities.
One difference is the
3, 4, 5, or 7-bottle wine packages that you pre-purchase but then can select exact bottles with your dining team in the main dining room. These bottles won’t be delivered to your room but are selected to be served to you each evening throughout your cruise. You may also purchase the wine package directly from your dining team, as the selections are available at your table for review at dinner.
If you decide to indulge in
room service onboard, please know that most items are complimentary! You do need to be present to receive this fresh food order, as this will not be left in your room while you’re elsewhere onboard, such as shopping. My family loves to plan at least one room service treat during our sailings. We love the chicken wings, cheese platter, and the secret menu item “cake of the day”. You don’t pre-order room service, this is done by calling from within your stateroom, but it is an exception to having items delivered while you’re not present. Room service is a fun solution to the post-
Port Adventure munchies before dinner or a late-night snack.
If you do place an order with Onboard Gifts and Amenities, be sure to finalize this purchase online at least three days prior to your sail date and trust that Disney’s team will take care of the delivery at the right time. If things are not as you expect onboard, please make a quick visit to Guest Services to confirm any further logistics.
I hope this helps you understand what to expect and puts your mind at ease, Tom. The service onboard with Disney Cruise Line is exceptional, and I hope you find everything to exceed your expectations with a touch of pixie dust! Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with for you to have an amazing cruise.
Wishing you a magical sailing,
Amy
