Hi Emily!
First off, Happy Birthday to your junior Mickey and mini Minnie! Thank you so much for sending this Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR. I'm happy to be your planEAR today!
Oh, I love that you'll celebrate two very special days at The Happiest Place on Earth this week! You have picked some very fun
Character Meals indeed. With the Mickey dome cake you ordered, there will be three options of messaging on one of the ears: Happy Birthday, Congratulations, or blank. Usually when you check-in with the meal, the Host will confirm your cake add-on, the flavor, and the message on the ear. I'm linking a story from the
Disney Parks Blog about these cute cakes so you can get a better idea of what to expect. Some fun ways that you can personalize your cakes are to bring numbered or colorful candles or even those letter candles to spell your children's names!
These celebration cakes are only available at a handful of dining locations at the moment. There is a
list of the locations online, and I recently lEARned that more locations will be added throughout the yEAR. At the current time, it looks like Napa Rose does not have these cakes, however, you can certainly ask. Your best bet might be to ask at the front desk of your Disneyland Resort Hotel if they could assist you in finding out if
Napa Rose has these cakes, or you could even stop by Napa Rose before your dining day and ask that if they have the cakes that one be added to your reservation. Napa Rose is located on the ground floor of
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and isn't that difficult to get to if you're already inside Disney California Adventure Park as there's a special "back gate" entrance and exit turnstile by Grizzly River Rapids that connects the theme park to the hotel. Pro Tip: Be sure to mention that you're celebrating a birthday when you check-in for your actual reservations.
If Napa Rose and the
Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures truly don't carry these cakes, another fun idea would be to get a
'crazyshake' from Black Tap Craft Burgers and Shakes in the Downtown Disney District. This location is a quick-service dining spot that does not take reservations, but they do have a shakes-only to-go window around the corner by Splitsville. Another cake alternative would be to get something from
Sprinkles, located across from Black Tap; if you go to the actual sprinkles.com website you could even pre-order your items today for a quick pickup day-of. (For the order location you can type 'Disneyland'.)
Pro Tip: Ask for complimentary 'Happy Birthday' celebration buttons from your Disney hotel, while you're in the parks, or from the restaurants themselves as these have been known to pack some pixie dust of their own.
I hope that this helped to plan your upcoming Disney days, Emily! Thank you so much again for stopping by. We can't wait to See - and celebrate with - You Real Soon!
