How do you order when using Table Service credits with the dining plan? I know we are to choose an entree, drink, & dessert, but would prefer an appetizer as my entree sometimes with my drink & dessert. Is that permitted or will I be charged extra?

Hi, Jennifer!  The official rule is that you cannot substitute, so you cannot get an appetizer instead of an entree.  That said, always ask if you see something you would prefer.  Depending on the restaurant and the server, exceptions are sometimes made.   I have also ordered completely off the menu (asked for an item from their lunch menu when I was at dinner) and they accommodated me.

Some locations stick very close to the rules, where at other times I have been able to substitute.   Always ask, but please be respectful to their reply as they are just following their instructions.

If you find you want to add on the appetizer even if cannot be substituted, the cost will simply be added to your bill when it comes at the end of the meal when you sign for the gratuity.   There are so many wonderful menu options, I hope you find something you like!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
