Hey there David,
Welcome to planDisney and thanks for your question! I'm thrilled to hear that you're planning a trip for later this year to the Disneyland Resort. October is one of my favorite times to visit the parks!
Currently, you need to purchase
theme park tickets and make a
theme park reservation for each day of your visit to the Disneyland Resort. While you can buy your tickets whenever you'd like, the theme park reservations open up about 120 days in advance. This means you should be able to make reservations for October 16 & 17 around June 18 & 19 or so (120 days out from the date of your visit).
If you're still working on choosing a hotel, I love utilizing the
Vacation Packages on the Disneyland website as they include your park tickets and one of the
hotels of the Disneyland Resort, which also opens up
Early Entry into the theme parks for each day of your stay! Note that you'll still need to make those theme park reservations later this month for each day of your trip as well.
Lastly, I wanted to also mention that the Happiest Place on Earth will be in the midst of the Halloween season during your visit! In fact, the
Disney Parks Blog just published more details - including information on this year's
Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party! If you're able to swing it, this special event is a ton of fun.
This will be such a fun trip, David! Thank you again for stopping by with your question. Please feel free to come back and see us if you think of any follow-ups as you continue to plan. We'd love to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
