Laura from IL Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

In order to use rider swap with a fast pass, do both adults need a fast pass booked. For example can mom make a fast pass for her and their little one for a ride and then dad and older child make a fast pass for a thrill ride and then request a rider swap?

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Laura!

Last June my wife and I had the opportunity to use Disney’s Rider Switch service for the first time and it was amazing!

Technically, it is recommended that all Guests have a FastPass+ reservation to utilize the Rider Switch service. However, I will tell you that a Cast Member did allow us to ride an attraction with only having a single FastPass+ last year, but I think this was more of an exception. To make sure your schedule is interrupted, I would advise everyone within your party to have a FastPass+ reservation.

To utilize the Rider Switch service, approach the greeting Cast Member with your entire party. At least one adult member of your party and the Guests who are not riding will be issued a Ride Switch entitlement by the Cast Member and asked to wait in a designated area. Once the first Guest finishes the ride, the second Guest will then be able to ride without having to wait in the regular queue.

Also, keep in mind that not every attraction allows you to use the Rider Switch service. Here’s a helpful list of the attractions that do offer Rider Switch.
