Hi, Michelle!
Disney PhotoPass Service allows you to have all your pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers, as well as ride photos, all in one place you can access online. Photographers are available at most character greetings. They will take numerous photos while you interact with the characters and then a couple with a pose. After the photos are taken, the PhotoPass photographer will scan either your PhotoPass card or your MagicBand if you have one. Once you return home from your vacation, you can visit the Disney PhotoPass website and view all your PhotoPass photos. Your photos are available to purchase individually as well as photo related merchandise. There is no fee to use this service and you are not obligated to purchase any of the photos taken.
Disney Memory Maker is used alongside Disney PhotoPass Service. Memory Maker allows you to download each and every Disney PhotoPass picture taken of your family for one flat cost. If you are purchasing Memory Maker, do so at least three days in advance of your arrival so you are able to take advantage of the advance purchase discount.
You do not have to purchase Memory Maker to use PhotoPass, however the Memory Maker savings quickly add up when you see how many photos Disney PhotoPass photographers take. There is even a discount if you purchase Memory Maker at least three days before your arrival date.
Have a magical day, Michelle!
