Howdy, Samantha! Welcome to planDisney!
A trip to Walt Disney World Resort in August sounds supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! If you want adventure in the great wide somewhere (and if you want it more than you can tell) then you're going to be in awe of all the EARidescent excitement that awaits you for the
50th Anniversary Celebration. In the words of Jasmine, "It's all so magical."
Samantha,
MagicBands are a great idea for your upcoming trip. These handy-dandy devices allow you to unlock your Disney Resort hotel room door, enter both Theme and Water Parks (with valid admission, of course), connect any Disney PhotoPass images to your account, and charge delicious food and special souvenir purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room. What's not to love?
Unfortunately, Guests traveling from the UK cannot currently order MagicBands pre-arrival. However, once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, you'll be able to purchase your MagicBands from a variety of places, including your Disney Resort, any of the Theme Parks, or
Disney Springs. Once you purchase them, you will have to link your new MagicBands to your account. To do that, once you've purchased your MagicBands, open your
My Disney Experience account, click on "My MagicBands and Cards" and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There should be a "Link" button under the "Link a MagicBand" section. The rest is fairly straightforward.
Samantha, in the build-up to your trip, I'd encourage you to keep an eye out for any news regarding
MagicBand+. This new generation of MagicBand will have the basic capabilities as the current MagicBand, but will also possess color-changing lights and haptic vibrations that will allow Guests to "feel the magic." But there's more: MagicBand+ will also have gesture recognition capabilities that enable certain movements to create magical experiences. The release date has yet to be announced. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear news soon. I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation. But as Bruno from Encanto says, “You can’t hurry the future.”
I hope you have a magical holiday, Samantha. Thanks for stopping by planDisney.
