Hello Jason and welcome to planDisney where we believe birthdays are best celebrated at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Jason, this question is near and dear to my heart as we just celebrated my son's 10th birthday at the Walt Disney World Resort. First, (
because I love sweets) let's talk about cakes!
At a number of restaurants around the Walt Disney World Resort you are able to order a
Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake. When we checked into the podium for our reservation at
Cape May Cafe I requested a cake at that time to be brought out for the end of the meal. They even added my son's name to the cake which made it even sweeter. Please click
HERE to see the list of participating restaurants.
Jason, if you don't already have
an advanced dining reservation at one of these locations and you don't see availability, I encourage you to keep trying as often as you can. Guests' plans change frequently and (while I can't guarantee this) I have had great luck over the years making reservations a few days in advance.
planDisney tip: Even on park days, don't discount taking a break for a dining reservation at a nearby Disney Resorts Collection hotel. For instance, on a day at Magic Kingdom Park, you can easily hop on the monorail for a dining reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe and then back to Magic Kingdom Park for more attractions after your meal. Now, if you'd like to "add-on" to the cake and surprise your wife at your
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, check out
Disney Floral and Gifts where you can have gift baskets, balloons or flowers delivered directly to your resort.
Jason, I hope this helps kick-start your birthday planning for your wife's special day. If you need additional recommendations or have other questions, I hope you'll come back and see your new friends hEAR at planDisney.
Best wishes for a Magical trip.
Lauren
