What options do you have if you miss onboarding at the port the cruise starts at? Referring to European cruises where you are going to multiple different countries

    Welcome to planDisney, Suzan!

Disney Cruise Line's European Destinations are amazing! My family and I sailed the Mediterranean last summer, and I already dream of returning. There’s so much rich history and iconic landmarks to be explored. Like you, when I travel, I like to plan for the “just in case.” I’m happy to share that Disney Cruise Line has some resources available to help ease your mind, so you can focus on making memories instead.

You might want to consider the Disney Cruise Line Air Program for peace of mind. If you have any flight delays, they will work with you to ensure you meet up with the ship at the first available port of call. I booked my airfare with Disney for my Alaskan cruise this summer. The rates were similar to what I found on my own, and I was able to arrive a day early. You can also add hotel stays and transportation to the port and back. Contact Disney Cruise Line; they would be happy to help you explore your options.

If you book airfare on your own, you would be responsible at your own expense for getting to the next port. A reservation specialist shared with me that you would be allowed to board under most circumstances, but this depends on each country's rules. There are no refunds for any missed days. I think travel insurance is a great idea to help with unexpected circumstances and emergencies. The Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan covers your family both before and during your vacation. A reservation agent can add travel insurance for you.

Suzan, I hope this information helps you feel prepared for your sailing. One thing I didn’t expect on my first Disney Cruise was how much I would love it. My favorite memory is when my son was asked by a crew member what he liked best about cruising. I thought he’d say the kids’ clubs or the unlimited ice cream. Instead, he said he enjoyed spending time with his family. Our memories of exploring different ports and spending time together keep us sailing with Disney Cruise Line year after year.

I wish you a wonderful voyage filled with unexpected magical moments and treasured memories. Please stop by again if you have any additional questions. I love helping Guests plan the vacation of their dreams!
