Hi there Jessica and welcome aboard planDisney!
Some of my earliest experiences sailing with Disney Cruise Line include
sailing out of Fort Lauderdale and it was nice having the airport so close to Port Everglades, along with so many places to grab a bite to eat within a reasonable proximity compared to Port Canaveral. (The tricky part however, was finding a way to combine this with a visit to Walt Disney World Resort over 200 miles away!)
Taking a look at the available
Ground Transportation options provided through Disney Cruise Line, there currently aren't any offerings available that will take you directly to Walt Disney World Resort after you disembark. Based on my personal experience, the fastest possible way for you to head there is by a quick flight that has gotten me to Orlando International Airport (MCO) in about an hour and you just may be lucky enough to snag a fairly inexpensive one-way flight depending on when you're traveling! My friends who regularly make the trip down from Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood swear on taking a car themselves as it can be a fairly straightforward 3-Hour drive with part of the way along the I-95. (Fun Fact: Did you know that this is where we get the name for the main thoroughfare that the crew on board take to get across the length of the Disney Cruise Line fleet on Deck 1? The cruise-ship version of the I-95 can swiftly take you from Forward to Aft in a fraction of the time it takes on the upper decks!)
There have been some exciting developments for 2023 including high-speed rail routes from South Florida, which could also serve as a good in-between option for you to stay on the ground without needing to make the drive yourself! Depending on how much luggage you've got and what works out best for your trip, it may be worth looking into a
Pre- or Post-Cruise Hotel Stay booked through Disney Cruise Line to see what they can offer or suggest by way of the most effective means of transportation that'll convey you off to Walt Disney World Resort. Hope this was helpful either way Jessica, and do come back to planDisney again for any more tips or advice ahead of your next voyage!
No matter what mode of transportation that you take, Your Adventure is Out there!
