Ahoy there, Andrew! Welcome aboard, planDisney!
One of my favorite things about sailing with Disney Cruise Line is its commitment to making sure that guests are happy and comfortable. This comes through in a variety of factors and services, including but not limited to options when storing breast milk while on board.
You have a few options when it comes to storing breast milk, both in a refrigerator and in a cooler. Inside your
stateroom, you will find a beverage cooler refrigerator. If you need to refrigerate the breast milk, you can store it here throughout your cruise. While there isn’t a freezer inside your stateroom that you can use, you can store frozen breast milk in a cooler filled with ice.
In order to store the frozen breast milk inside the cooler, you should bring a cooler on board no bigger than 12 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches, according to Disney Cruise Line's
List of Prohibited Items. This cooler should be carried on board as part of your carry-on luggage on the day you embark on your cruise. Do not place it in your checked luggage, as then your luggage will need to be searched, and could delay the time it arrives at your stateroom. If you are carrying the breast milk with you on embarkation day, you should also carry it on as part of your carry-on luggage, and not inside your checked luggage.
Once on board, in order to keep the breast milk frozen inside the cooler, you can request ice from
Room Service any time you want. What’s nice is that guests can call for Room Service
24 hours a day (woohoo!). So you can easily ask for more, at any time when you might be worried that the ice is melting. While I have never stored frozen breast milk myself on board, I have heard that this method can work very well to keep the breast milk frozen throughout the entirety of the cruise.
Just in case you need to thaw it for feeding purposes, you can also request a bottle warmer from Guest Services on board. This is another one of those great services that Disney Cruise Line provides for guests to make cruising even easier! Just remember that if you borrow one, to return it to the
Guest Services Desk before you debark your cruise, so that you are not charged for it.
Andrew, I hope I was able to offer a good solution. I wish you the most magical memories on board your cruise. Please sail back to planDisney if you have any more questions.
