Hi there, Melanie!
Thank you for reaching out to planDisney. I sailed on the Disney Cruise Line from Port Everglades with my planDisney friends last year, and we had so much fun! You will have a great time!
Ground transportation is available between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades on embarkation and debarkation days. Flying in the day before your cruise is a good idea in case of travel delays. I am glad you are doing that! Guests who book a hotel stay with Disney Cruise Line before or after their cruise can typically book ground transfers by calling
Disney Cruise Line. I like booking my hotel stay through Disney Cruise Line because it is such a seamless process!
Currently, three hotels can be booked through Disney Cruise Line for sailings out of Port Everglades - Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, and B Ocean Resort. If you are looking for a beautiful beachfront location, check out Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa or B Ocean Resort. On the other hand, the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina has pretty walking trails and is very close to the cruise terminal. You can find more information about these hotels on the
Disney Cruise Line - Fort Lauderdale page. Guests not booking a hotel through Disney Cruise Line need to arrange their own ground transportation. You could try finding a hotel that offers a free airport shuttle, which would help with some of your transportation needs.
Have you decided which
Port Adventures you are going to book yet? Port Adventures are shore excursions at the different Ports of Call during your voyage. My family does not live near the ocean, so we like to book beach-related Port Adventures. Land and sea Port Adventures are our favorite! However, there are plenty of activities to participate in at
Disney Castaway Cay (and
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, which we haven't visited yet), so we don't usually book Port Adventures there.
Melanie, have a wonderful voyage! Please contact planDisney again if you have additional questions.
Happy sailing!
Jen
