Welcome to planDisney, Jennifer!
There is something truly special about
the horses of Walt Disney World Resort. Each day, they help bring a little nostalgia to Main Street with the clip-clop of their hooves. They are some of the most beloved animals in The Most Magical Place on Earth, and a visit up close would be a memorable moment for anyone.
This is such a great question! Traditional horseback trail riding is
reserved for Guests ages 9 and older, and I am sad to report that there are no exceptions. The alternative option would be
the pony rides, which have a height restriction of no more than 48 inches. It sounds as if your granddaughter is in that in-between stage where she's not quite old enough for the horseback riding and may be just a tad too tall for the pony rides. But Hankuna Matata, Jennifer! I have a few suggestions that could still get her up close to these iconic horses.
If horses are on your granddaughter's must-see list for your next trip, add a visit to
Tri-Circle-D Ranch to your itinerary. Home to more than 90 horses, she'll be able to visit the horses and maybe even see Cinderella's Ponies! During my last visit to this spot, we were able to see these adorable friends learning some new tricks! This location also
offers wagon rides. While your granddaughter may not be able to ride the horses during this stay, she can still explore trails with them. If you are looking for a quieter, more relaxing horse-drawn experience, you can also consider
booking a carriage ride. You and your Ohana will enjoy a private 25-minute ride and learn about your horse and its care along the way!
I hope your upcoming adventure is magical!
