What is your opinion for character dinner...Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare? My 1st choice is Chef Mickey but only time available is 8:15 pm and am thinking kids may be wiped by then! Thoughts? Thanks!

Lisa, I agree the late time for Chef Mickey's might not make that an enjoyable evening for the kids and they might not even care if they see Mickey or not!

I would book the one that is best for the schedule you like to keep for dining and the kids.  There are other ways to meet up with Mickey and the gang to get their pictures and autographs and they are always in the Magic Kingdom parades so you can wave!

One of the best locations in my opinion to see all the main names in the character list is in EPCOT!  As you are walking into the park you will see the large fountain and to the right of this is a walkway leading to the Land pavilion and other areas.  Take this right and immediately on the left is a large indoor character greeting area where you can meet about 5 or 6 famous names with Disney PhotoPass cast members on hand to get pictures of each greeting. The lines can get long so I suggest you arrive at the park at opening and head there first.

If you don't plan on spending a day in EPCOT there are many other opportunities in all of the other parks to see your favorite character. As you enter a park pick up one of the Times Guides located with the maps and find out when and where there will be meet and greets that day.
