What's your opinion on the Caribbean Beach resort? I've read good reviews re the rooms, food court, etc...BUT all bad reviews about the bus service taking up to 30 min to get a bus & up to 1 hour to get back to the resort. Also, how many pools are clos

I have only stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort once. However I truly enjoyed that vacation. The resort is a tropical getaway with wonderful amenities.

The main pool at Old Port Royale is under rehab now but is scheduled to re-open in September. In fact, we have decided to stay here on our long weekend trip this Fall and my son is very excited about swimming in the new pirate themed pool.

I can't give you any good news about the bus service. I'm not a huge fan of the bus system. When a bus arrives quickly, it's an okay mode of transportation.

I like renting a car when we do not have our own vehicle with us. However I can tell you that the bus system was not any more efficient at the deluxe hotels such as the Grand Floridian. At least from my experience.

Caribbean Beach has lovely beaches with playgrounds for the kids. The rooms are cheerful and well-appointed for the price. I like a corner room so that we have 2 windows for extra natural light. The buildings do not have elevators so you may want to ask for a first floor room. The food court has lots of seating and a good menu. Kid meals are served in sand pails.

The village pools are still open. This is a very large resort so you may want to consider paying for a preferred room closer to the food court, pool, etc. Otherwise consider a room in Jamaica or Aruba.

    This resort is beautiful!
